Best 67 Pentax lenses in order of use

Forum,

I am new to the MF space and I am using Pentax 67 lenses with an adaptor onto 35mm. I know I know ferrari engine in a ford chassis. However in my buying cycles I have come across so many experts trying to see me something.

So I wanted to use the collective mind here and ask what lenses if you had to buy 3 of them would you buy to cover the wide to telephoto range. Manual of course.

Here is my starting bid

43mm f4
100 mmm Macro f4
300mm f4

Anyone else ?

Thanks I am hoping the forum might save me money and raise the quality of my photos at the same time optically of course. Not blaming anyone for my lack of composition or exposure skill

Are you getting these lenses to use exclusively on a 135 format camera or are they a prelude to getting a Pentax 6x7?

If you're only using them on a 135 format camera, don't bother. Get 135 format lenses instead. A better analogy to that "ferrari engine in a ford chassis" would be putting the transmission from a Ford F350 semi truck into a Farrari.

the 45mm [not 43] is a fine lens. So are the 55mm, 75mm, 90mm, 100mm macro, 105mm, 165mm and 200mm. I'm not familiar with the longer lenses.

Sorry my typo yes 45mm. I also found the forum part of the site rating lenses. Whilst limited looked interesting reading. Was told 105 is a little soft.

the 'budget' route

SMC Pentax 67 55-100mm F4.5

SMC Pentax 67 90-180mm F5.6

Pentax-M* 67 400mm F4 ED [IF]

Okay, okay... more of a budget buster. But there is no argument with the quality.

Seriously, consider the SMC Pentax 67 55-100mm F4.5

The lenses are going on a Nikon d3s and d700. I will look at the zoom but as I am shifting prime seems to be more usable for making minimal movements.

Why not 645 lenses? They are designed for a smaller format and so the smaller CoC would be part of the design. I few folks in the 645 lens review section have mounted 645 lenses on their APS and 35mm cameras.

In the uk since the 645D came by the price of lenses has gone throught the roof in general. I am sure there are bargains but searching them is getting harder.

I am going to Africa to shoot some specific panoramics I have the 45,100 macro and 300 f4 thus far. Now considering the 200 f4

I have recently used a 165mm/2.8 with adapter on my D700 for an interview because I forgot to rent the Nikon 70-200 which I usually do. I had to stop down manually and used a flash. Turns out that the 165 is a terrific & sharp lens on my D700 with great bokeh and a nice "film" feel. It's tack sharp at 5.6. I was lucky, though, that focal distance was enough and zooming wasn't neccessarily important to me.
I have tested the 45mm, the 100mm and 105mm on my 645D and they are all great, esp. the 100mm for macro work. Tack sharp at all apertures. The 105mm is indeed a little softer, still good though. I am not sure how all these turn out on a 35mm cam (which one, btw?) but as far as the 165mm is concerned, I can only recommend it!
