EXIF focal length for A lenses on 645D?

I'm new to 645D and just started shooting today. While the exposure data is included in the EXIF info when using A lenses, the lens focal length is not available. Is listing the focal length limited to just the FA lenses, or is there a way to get the camera to record the lens focal length when using an A lens? Thanks...

My A lenses do not show focal length in the EXIF data. I believe the manual says as much.

I never found any mention of this either way in the manuals - but mostly I'm wondering if there is any way to do this?

I don't have a way to do it on the camera, but when I import the photos, I use a program called Photo Mechanic. If I was consistent in a shoot I use that program to embed the data onto the file. If not, when I upload my photos I use the same program to write the data.

I switch lenses and focal lengths frequently and could never keep up with all the changes - you still have to enter the lens focal length manually don't you? Or does PM find that EXIF lens data somewhere? I guess my zooms are both FA and I only have two F lenses so not that bif of a deal, just some extra steps to identify and label.

The A series lenses do not communicate focal length data to the body, nor any other data except for maximum/minimum aperture and the fact that an A contact lens is mounted.

OK thanks - guess I'll stop looking for a way around it and start saving for the FA versions!

Hi,

I do realise that this is a bit of an old thread, but would like to add that I do get the aperture information when using my A-lenses on the 645D. What I find strange is that the focal length of the A-lens used to be transmitted to the 645N and included in the information exposed onto the film.

Only with FA lenses. With an A lens the lens info space is blank.
