645D future?

My apologies if this topic has already been discussed or discarded. I don't visit this forum very often so am not up to date at all.
I've heard rumors that Pentax may develop a camera that has a true 645 sized sensor rather than the cropped one found in the current 645D.
Is this just a pipe dream? And reason to believe it might actually happen?

There has been a debate about the future of the 645D. It would be very interesting if they did introduce a 6x 4.5 sensor. I doubt it would be10k though.

I would imagine at some point there will be a FF 645D as the sensors now exist. They don't however exist at any sane price. They will though as time passes. I could see a 645D MK 2 or 3 being 80mp FF though, and the new lenses were designed with a FF sensor in mind (it's be interesting to see shots from a film 645 with the new 25mm)

I'm waiting for the digital 6x9cm folder with teflon bellows, electronic lensboard movement, and WiFi'd image transmission. I'm not holding my breath though.

By gone's to WiFi,
I want satellite connection so I don't have to worry about either bringing $5,000 worth of memory cards or solar panels for my laptop when I go into the boonies. Just upload them straight to a server in duplicate for me when I am in the African bush.

I didn't realize the new lenses were FF compatible. That is very interesting and suggestive!
Meanwhile, I'm a happy camper with my 645n and lineup of A-series primes!

That is why they are calle D-FA. If they were cropped they would have been labeled DA...

Well, let's hope some brilliant researcher figures out how to drastically reduce the cost of large sensors!

it will come but more slowly than it has in the mainstream (it's taking FF longer as well)

In reality the 645D represents drastically reduced pricing as it sits.
