installing new focus screen

Hello,

Today I received my new AB-82 focus screen for my 645N. For some reason or the other, I was under the impression that installing ,or better put, replacing a new focus screen had to be done by a skilled camera repairman.

However, looking at the included instructions, it looks like one should be able to do it yourself.

Has anyone ever tried to replace a focus screen of a 645N? And if so, how hard was it? (I am very afraid to damage my beloved camera)

All the best,
Marcel

I just did it myself with my 645D. It was pretty easy. But I had a manual and a small tool which came with the focusing screen.
There are some video tutorials about changing focusing screens.
This is a tutorial for the Mamiya 645. It should be very similiar with your Pentax.

I've done it with the 645N, and it's not difficult. The point where you hold the screen is tiny, but that's the main difficulty really. Just make sure that you work in a dust-free environment.

Yes, dust-free is very important. I also bought a Rocket Air Blower to clean the focusing screen. Often there is already some dust on the screen, even it is new.
