Is it worthwhile to buy a used 645D?

Not much discount from new?

I bought mine new, simply because it's a huge investment and there's a lot more to go wrong on a camera than a lens...like if the previous owner damaged in the image sensor during cleaning or there's something else wrong that they aren't telling you and that's their reason for selling it. The warranty is peace of mind I guess...but if you can get a sizeable discount buying used then it may be worth the risk, especially if it's from a reputable dealer or trustworthy seller.

It would depend on how much of a discount and whether or not you're comfortable with the risk.

I think that lenses are a different case and I purchased all of my lenses used, even the "new" 25mm D FA.

I'd have to state no on the option to purchase any used medium format.

You'd have to get a verified count for starters. And as stated in an earlier posting; there's all kinds of issues that could have gone wrong with the sensor. And since it's a Pentax model - it has practically a non user interchangeable sensor - if it were a user interchangeable sensor it would be a much different story.

Unless one happens to get one incredible deal; and at best it is still a considerable gamble. It cost a lot to do any work on any medium format.
