| EFKE/Fotokemika (Zagreb) stopps film and paper production
Starting in august there were rumors about the stopp of production at EFKE/Fotokemika in Zagreb (Croatia) Some newer forum talks (sources below) indicates that EFKE has really stopped production. Here a short summary : _There might be a small chance of a last production run of the film, though not of the paper _ Paper production has ceased because a machine is broken and it is uneconomical to repair it. (repair cost are under the costs for a new small car !) _ Efke production is uneconomical because every factory has a minimum turnover; for this to be economical there has to be a minimum price; and this price would now be too high to compete with the prices of Ilford & Kodak who have better access to dealers. _ There are plans to develop a new film in the 25-32-50 ASA range at Adox (Fotoimpex, Berlin) as a replacement for the popular Adox CHS 50 _ and the good news: B&W film market is no longer shrinking !
