i have seen different models and some are 'P', prices for used item are quite different and some of them are cheap....what are the difference? is it about AF or Manual Focus?

for example, this one: Pentax SMCP A 645 Macro 120mm f/4 Lens, 645N, 645NII & 645D, SMC P, EXC+ en vente sur eBay.fr (fin le 04-déc.-12 06:37:47 Paris)

sorry for this basic question...

There is no difference. P just stands for Pentax - its an abbreviation that many sellers employ

The FA indicates it's autofocus. A is an older, manual focus design. You will pay more for the FA. Optically, both are superb.

Thx Ed... Now it's clear why the price is a bit lower.

I have the 120 A, very sharp, great macro. Never needed the autofocus, as with macro work it seems I'm always manual focusing anyways. But I have 20/20 vision as well...so easier for me to focus.

You should be able to find a 120 A in decent condition for around $350 USD.
