got my 645 today!

Found an okay deal on a near mint 645 and A 75mm f2.8 today. Wasn't an expected purchase. I went to go pickup some film for my 35mm cameras and I saw a guy in there asking to see how much he could get on trade with his 645. They offered him $100. I met up with him outside and asked him how much he wanted for it. $450. I asked if he would take $400 cash this very second, and he went for it. I then turned around, went back into the store and bought 6 rolls of film for the thing! Trying some Fujichrome Provia 100 & 400, Kodak Porta 160, and Extar 100.

Man, I love the sound of this thing when it cycles the film. It feels really good in the hand, and it looks wicked cool. I can't get enough of that loud "Woompf" whenever you press the shutter. What a feeling. The viewfinder is massive and bright, which is such a joy. So happy I picked this thing up. Wasn't expecting spending the money today, but I've been looking for a 645 for a while, and I'm glad I finally scored one.

Going to try and track down a 35mm 2.8 and a 135 f4 online now....

oh, and course, a portrait of this handsome devil.

It's a sweet camera. I got the same rig 2 1/2 years ago. The 35mm is my dream lens, I have a 45, 55, 135LS, 150, 200, and a 500mm russian mirror lens for it. The 45 is close to being wide enough.

what are you liking for film selection? any little quirks that I should know about?

Very nice. I had one a few years ago and loved it. I wish had more time to snag another one and use it!

Try some Kodak Ektachrome 100G slide film while it's still available. (It has been discontinued) E100G is amazing and is the best slide film that I have used other than Kodachrome.

I also like E100G way better than Ektar.

I'm shooting all B&W with mine and I've settled on Ilford products FP4+ 100, SFX 200, & HP5+ 400 typically.

After seeing so many MF shots, I have been eyeing this very rig too at fleabay... or 645n...so I'll be looking for sure what you get from it

I've only burned the two rolls of fujichrome provia 400 so far, and both are off to two separate labs to see what happens

All I know for sure is that I think I want the N, this ones good, but the extra features and nicer controls would be bangin.

I can't believe how nice this thing is to shoot with. It really is a dream. Makes me want to find the coin for a 645D....

I bought mine with the 75 2.8 and 55 2.8 just before xmas. I've yet to run roll of film through it yet. For me utility will depend on what kind of scans I can get from the negatives. I'm hoping to be able to produce a decent 40-60 MP image, but I've done absolutely no research to suggest that will be possible.

got my 645 for christmas! so relatively new here... i was able to talk to some guys and they said at full resolution... the tiff file can easily go up to 100mb... with the i dont know what nikon scanner
