P67 165 LS Release Date

I'm getting the P67 165mm LS f/4 lens. It looks like it was released in 1988. Does anyone know if this is correct? There have been varying opinions as to its sharpness over the years. Since it has the same design type as the 200 Pentax, I am expecting it to be sharp.

I used the older variant way back when, (Just closed the window with the older version's release date. Forget about it. It's sharp.

I am less concerned about release/manufacturing date and most concerned about overall performance from personal testing and scrutinising the results; it can be a very subjective thing to discuss in the absence of proof that you have seen from your own use.

That said, it is sharp enough for me to get a 61x51cm print from.
It's best performance is f11 to f16, and tripod braced (especially on hard surfaces).

Okay thanks everyone-- Looks like I have a winner in the 165. It is one of the few P67 lenses that I have never tried. I will use it for landscapes only, no flash work.

The 165/4 LS uses a funky rubber hood RH-RC 77mm, that also works on the 120/3.5 soft lens.
