From D3, D3s, D3x, now to D4 .. only 4 years. 4 models in 4 years.
D3 was Nikon's first FF DSLR, and after it, they pushed forward, went really aggressive.
And you know why? Because they wanted to own the pro DSLR market. The perception of how a mountain is tall and worth climbing comes from the top. That little snow covered peak of pro photography stardom drives all desires. And they do own it now.
Nikon got it right, they understand photographer's market, they get how amateurs think, and from the FF DSLRs on top everyone is craving for, all things naturally fall in place below.
