Pentax 645 400mm f5.6 FA and 1.4X?

The 645 1.4X extender is stated to be made for the 300mm f4 manual focus lens (I have both). Does anyone know if it will work with the 400mm FA f5.6 lens (in manual focus mode, of course)
Thanks in advance
Dave

Yes

Yes , the fit is fine. The camera sometimes gets a little confused about the stop, so manual mode can be necesssary at times. Then other times the camera is perfectly happy and thinks every stop is an 8. Today it thought we were at f54 for a while . I get the same results when i stick this 1.4 xtender behind a 67 lens (with adaptor).

As i said in another thread earlier this week, this set up results in looking through a very dark finder and makes focus difficult except in direct full sunlight.

Heres one from my bike ride today. Thanks for asking, got me to shoot pictures today.

Thanks for the info. The crop looks very sharp. I just purchased the 67 500mm f5.6 and 67 1.4X and the combination is not as sharp as I would like. I may look into the 645 400 f5.6.
Best of luck; nice shot.

I just purchased a used 400mm FA 5.6 on ebay from KEH. I have dealt with KEH before, and they are reliable. I will report here the results, but the reviews I have found on the internet have all been favorable.
Thanks again

i just bought the 400mm f5.6 fa a few months ago.i took it ,a lens support, a tripod a 1.4x, and two 2x teleconvertersfor an afternoon at the park.pentax's teleconverters only work in manual focus but that was ok with me. shots with the 1.4x were great. shots with the 2x were also verry good. shots with a 1.4 and a 2x stacked were good. shots with two 2x's stacked were ok when care was used.stacking the 1.4 with both 2x's did not work too well.oh we are talking about a 645 lens and converters.
