2x Converter for Pentax 6x7

Hi,
I am looking for a 2x Converter to turn my Pentax 67 ED IF 300mm lens into a 600mm lens. Of course, I donīt want to loose the great performance of this lens. My question to all of you having used 2x Converters for the Pentax 67 system: Is there a reasonable difference between the older, black coloured converters and the "new" grey ones? What about "third-party"-converters from Kenko? Thank you!

I only have the newer grey 2X converter, which I haven’t got around to using yet.

According to the Pentax manuals the older black T6-2 X has 6 elements in 6 groups. The newer grey 2x has 6 elements in 4 groups.

As you have the latest 67 300mm I would go with the newer grey 2X converter.

Other forum members who have more experience with the 6x7 telephotos will have more information for you.

Phil.

If you are using the 300 ED + 2x converter on a P67, there is a serious problem with shutter vib even though the 300 has a tripod mount. This is especially true at 1/4 to 1/30 sec.
