645D shutter

i'm on my second year with the 645D and maybe about 30k shots and the shutter is starting to make a high frequency sound/noise as if something needs to be oiled -- it doesn't sound right.. it happens every now and then.. anyone else experience something similar?

i'm leaving for india in Jan and i don't have time to send back to pentax to get it repaired and i'm hoping the camera doesn't break down during my 3 month long trip..

a few times last week while shoot 3-exposure brackets, I heard a little scratching type sound once in awhile. I haven't heard it again and not sure if it was shutter or something else.

I would send my camera to have it looked at, strange noises from cameras are never a good thing in my experience.

I've heard strange noises come from my 645D shutter once or twice, but it's always been when shooting in below freezing temps and once the camera is warm again the problem didn't return.

hey Ryan i think you are right.. i was suspecting that it could be weather related and it did happen in cold weather recently (35F).. i tried recently to duplicate the sound in my warm room but couldn't.. hmmm..

Well, if it only happens in the cold I wouldn't worry about it too much. Other cameras I've owned have also done some funny things in the cold. Just make sure to leave them in the camera bag to slowly acclimate to the warmer temp when you bring them back inside so they don't condensate and fry the internals!
