It's not set in stone for facts at least I can't find any but one claim the 645D may be used from one of Kodak's patents that was sold when they went out of business I guessing, the Kodak KAF-39000. Who made the image sensor?

Truesense is the holder of those patents, and still makes those sensors. The company was started by ex-Kodak employees with funding from a capital management company.

Interesting that this sensor has/had a big brother 50mp sensor that is compatible with the 645D design. Maybe original upgrade was going to be a 50mp model?
