Maybe the switch of Hasselblad and Phase One toward Sony CMOS sensor will make Ricoh able to buy "old " 65 Mp fullframe CCD 6x4,5 sensors at discount prices...

In that interview with the Phase One people, they said they will still offer their CCD backs. So apparently it is not a switch but another option in their lineup. Can't say what Hasselblad is going to do.

It certainly sounds crazy, but all it would take is one company. My gut tells me that Ricoh isn't in a position to do the crazy kinds of stuff that Sony has been doing recently. If only Minolta had still been doing medium format cameras when Sony bought them...

Rumor is that the NEW 645D (w/ 50MP Sony CMOS Sensor) along with a new lens will be announced tomorrow… Let's see if it pans out but I am not familiar with the source of this info so can't vouch for him/her.

Really? Hadn't heard anything yet, usually you can tell SOMETHING is coming. Adam seems to always know by now.

Maybe the source is this thread?

Would be great though. And Hasselblad is out of the competition - who would buy any Hasselblad now that the HV is out?

I'm sure we'd have had some sort of "heads up, big announcement incoming" sort of post.

The new camera is released with a new lens? I wonder what kind of lens? Maybe the standard zoom on the roadmap? Or maybe the new camera has a larger sensor after all, so it requires a new standard prime lens?

The new Hasselblad was mentioned in a comment in one of the other threads here, now Photorumors also speaks of a 50MP CMOS Phase One camera:

PhaseOne IQ250 coming soon with a.... new 50MP CMOS sensor | Photo Rumors

I've long wondered if the 645D mk 2 would get a CMOS Sony sensor. I think this may be an indication that it will. If the size of the sensor is about the same as in the current Hasselblad H5D-50 (36.7 x 49.1), the pixel density will be very close to the pixel density of a 24mp FF sensor, so the sensor could be expected to have similar low light capabilities to the D600. This would make the 645D mk2 incredibly good in low light!
Low light performance should be up to a full stop better: pixel level comparison is invalid

You suppose they'll start clearing the current 645D?
