It certainly sounds crazy, but all it would take is one company. My gut tells me that Ricoh isn't in a position to do the crazy kinds of stuff that Sony has been doing recently. If only Minolta had still been doing medium format cameras when Sony bought them...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Minolta never built medium format cameras. I think you were thinking of Mamiya.

You suppose they'll start clearing the current 645D?
I couldn't justify one at even a fire sale price!

Yay! Just as I expected, a preview. And with a Pentax first (for DSLRs, at least): A tilting screen.

Minolta made some TLR medium format cameras such as the Autocord 6x6. AFAIK they never made any SLR or interchangeable lens MF cameras though.

Minolta made several 120 cameras in the thirties, a couple of 120 folders in the forties and fifties and then made the Minoltaflex, Minoltacord and Minolta Autocord in the fifties. The last one was the Autocord CdS in1965.

I think the images of both the camera and the lens are mock-ups and do not reflect the actual products. See any indication of focal length on the lens image?

Does anyone have any insight on what the focal length will be on the new ultra-wide zoom for the 645D?

Just a guess is 30-50mm. That was close to what was on the roadmap some time ago.

So... do you think they'll sell off the existing 645Ds for under US $2,000?
