Do we have any idea whatsoever what is the cost of manufacturing a batch of these and holding the inventory for
x number of years? Do we have any idea whatsoever whether there are enough fixed costs (relative to variable costs) that spreading them over a larger number of units would dramatically lower the cost of manufacture? Do we have any idea whatsoever whether the market for a 645 25mm WA is large enough to support a higher volume of sales at
any price - high enough to justify a high-volume, low-cost strategy?
Do we
know Pentax could make more money using a high-volume, low-cost strategy for a 645DII camera and lenses betond that price/market decision they've already (apparently) made?
I don't know the answers.
