For 35mm slides I don't scan them but do use a light table or slide projector. For 120 slides I do get them scanned, as a 6x7 projector is not an option.

Most photographers scan Velvia 50 and prep it for printing, either giclee or RA4. Velvia has been the gold standard for professional printing and exhibition for a long time (Velvia 100F a bit less due to its overpowering palette) and today's modern digital prints in many cases rival the once-glamorous Ilfochrome Classic media. It can be a challenging film to work with for people just coming to grips in photography but there is no harm in getting hold of a roll and taking it for a run, in full expectation there will be "problems" with exposure and contrast. I last projected slides in the winter of 1981! Nothing coming from Velvia even resembles "slides", with all pics snipped and taped to archival masks for storage.
