lens cap for 67 105mm

Hello!

I've bought a gorgeous Pentax SUPER-TAKUMAR/6x7 105mm (first edition). Unfortunately, it does not come with a front lens cap. Does a general 67mm lens cap fit? If not, what (third party) lens cap does fit?

Thanks in advance

The so called "original" cap that is a bayonet type is not necessary if you were thinking about that. .Most standard "grab the thread" types will fit just fine, but I've run into a few "pinch" type caps that are very thick and seem too close to the front element.

If you check eBay or KEH.com, you should be able to locate either a generic 67mm lens cap or perhaps an original Pentax 6x7 cap for the lens. These sort of things (generic ones) can usually be found at your local photo store as well. I've had to do this for some of my older (6x7, 645, M42, and K mount) lenses. Just got a batch of M42 bottom caps from China (I live in the USA) in about 5 days for peanuts. It's nice if it says Pentax on it though.

The regular Pentax 6x7 67mm lens caps works fine. I removed my 6x7 bayonet caps and replaced them with the newer 67 plastic clip-on ones.

Although the original ones definitely look cool, I always found them a little awkward to use in the field. Removing them is easy enough, but you have to find exactly the right spot before they will twist back on.

Any third party lens cap of the right size can be used, including those with centre-tab or side-tab push-on types. I wouldn't get all hot and bothered that such lens caps don't have PENTAX stamped on them. You can also find caps for the lens on eBay. If you want to the real deal, it will command a premium over anything else and they all do the same.

You can also get the 67mm plastic caps new from Pentax or B&H:

I went for a generic third party lens cap. Does the job flawlessly.
