The Price Plunge Begins (645D)

I mentioned in another thread that the number of used 645D bodies in stock at Fujiya Camera had increased last week. They were all priced at just over $4,000. Today I noticed that they had 11 of them on the shelf and they were all priced around $3,750. I mentioned it to one of my friends who works there and he said it would only be a matter of time before the prices drop below $3,000 for the used 645D! I wonder if people will start snapping up these great bargains!

Below $3K would be a bargain.

Yeah at that price even I would be tempted. And I have no interest in MF. Yet.

Hopefully fujiya camera's prices make their way over to the rest of the world too If not, I'm sure that there will be plenty of bargains on ebay. Great news!

I am a wedding photographer and I borrowed one for the weekend. I have the 75mm/2.8 and the 45/2.8, as well as an adapter with the Hasselblad 110/2.0 and the 60mm/3.5 to play around with. So far, thumbs up! Not seeing the crazy cmos dynamic range we're used to, but the files have a dimensionality that I've been missing with our 35mm sensors.

If they get to 3k, I'd totally consider one for my weddings.

Here is today's listing. No many shorter primes but at least it gives you an idea. The exchange rate is very close to 100 yen to the US$ so just slide the decimal point to the left two digits.

Below 3000$ I start considering buying a second body. Might happen, once the 645z really get delivered in a larger quantity. The 645z ist the better univerversal camera, where as for the low ISO specialists as me the advantages of the new one are not that obvious.

They have/had one recently at B&H for $5.8k, and the ones I've seen in the forum posts here are around 6. Man, I would LOVE prices to hit that low because I just borrowed one and I cannot believe what I was missing. The resolution I could take or leave, but the look of that sensor and those lenses is to die for. Reminds me that 'full frame' is the classic amatuer format. Not going back...

Well, if there are ten folks out there who want me to grab a 645D for them and don't mind a 10% handler's fee I'm game!

Oh Carp!

I was hoping to upgrade to the 645z with partial funding from selling my 645D. However, if I cannot expect more than $3K for my D, the 645z will not be possible. I would have sold it months ago but I'm going to visit Bryce Canyon & Arches National Parks and the K10D (yes, I've still have that "old" camera) isn't enough.

I'm only quoting Tokyo prices, and from what is probably the most competitively priced store in the city, so don't get too worried.
