Pentax 645Z - A few thoughts and pics

Pentax 645Z has arrived, and has now assumed the position of lead workhorse.

Very similar to the 645D, although the review button has moved which lead to some confusion as muscle memory tells my fingers to go to the wrong place.

Most noticeable change when using the camera is how fast the images appear on the rear screen. No looking at the egg timer symbol.

Ability to shoot at higher ISOs is great, and has allowed me to get some images I would have otherwise not have been able to take.

No scientific tests, but to me it feels like dynamic range has increased, and auto focus works faster.

All in all it is a great piece of kit. Only drawback is that my computer is now running even slower.

Chris

I think it's a Toyota 2000GT... but I'm more interested in the "officer" next to it.

Great shots, Chris! Any possibility to post some raw files (not necc. of those images) for the curious to play with? I'd like to see the color response and tonal range without the "retro" processing.

Correct. One appeared in the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice
.

Now there is one less:

Chris, take care in the approaching typhoon. Although, it might be a good test to see how weatherproof the camera is...

Yes a big typhoon is hitting Okinawa as I type. The camera may be weatherproof, but the person holding it isn't indestructible! Staying indoors until it passes then will go out and take some pics early tomorrow morning.

Stay safe! I was hoping it would continue west but it looks like the storm is going to take a turn to the right and hit us full on in a day or two!

Stunning first images! The 2000gt really is a great fit as a subject for the 645z.
