645z and versions of PDCU

Hi there,

I have found that my PDCU 5.0 version S-SW140 that comes with K-3
does not see DNG from 645z and cannot convert it.
Colleagues advised me to find PDCU 5.0 version S-SW150 that comes with 645z.

I'am very asking owners of 645z to share disk image of S-SW150,
it will be helpfull for all of us.

Sincerely yours, Dmitry aka managger

For reference, but not directly helpful to you, LR version 5.5 doesn't have any problem with 645z DNG.

It is interesting that Pentax does not offer this for download.
Anyway, I manage to find something for you...

Oh, dear dgdb, thank you for share this disk image with us!
This is the part of original disk to instal it for the Win, isn't it?
Is it possible to share with us the installation for Mac or simply the full disk image of
original S-SW150?
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely.

Thank you very much !!!
As I see, it's really different version. It's PDCU 5.1 not 5.0 that comes with K-3.
Everything works with DNG from 645Z and Windows 32bit/64bit.

Thank you again

That is all what was on that CD. No Mac version there, just Win 32/64b.
I am not sure for what do you need this and for what this SW really is. Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom and Capture One open DNG files from 645Z without any problems.

Dear dgdb, thank you for the compete answer.
I wonder why S-SW140 (for the K-3) supports both Win and Mac OS X, but S-SW150 (for the 645Z) does not
support Mac OS X and made just for only Win users! Are you sure?
So, Pentax does not need Mac users to be customers of 645Z?! :-) Great idea.
Thank you for such information.
Sincerely.
Cheers!

:-) OK, maybe you are right, and I believe you. :-)
So explain me please in which way the Pentax provides support
for Mac users declared for 645D if there is no installation software for Mac on the CD included
in the box?
I'm simply reading the FAQ "What are the system requirements?":
645D : Products | RICOH IMAGING

[Macintosh]
USB connection requirements:
Requires a computer with a USB port as standard equipment and Mac OS X 10.4.11 to 10.6 pre-installed, with the latest system software updates installed.
Application Software "PENTAX Digital Camera Utility 4.20" requirements:
"OS Mac OS X 10.6 / Mac OS X 10.5 / Mac OS 10.4.11
CPU PowerPC G5 Dual-core 2.0GHz or higher
(Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or more recommended, Universal Binary correspondence)…
" (С)

There is an information that Pentax supports the Mac OS X with the DCU 5 for 645Z:
PENTAX - 645Z

"Computer Requirements
Windows: Windows 8.1 (32 bit/64 bit) / Windows 8 (32 bit/64 bit) / Windows 7 (32 bit/64 bit) / Windows Vista (32 bit/64 bit), Intel Core 2 Quad or higher, 4GB or more
Mac: Mac OS X 10.9 /10.8 / 10.7 / 10.6, Intel Core 2 Quad or higher, 4GB or more @ ©

So the installation for the Mac OS X definitely should be present on the CD S-SW150 and is present there for sure.

Some fellow pentaxians don't want to share this installation? OK, it's understandable.
Thank you collegues even for the interesting discussion. :-)
Sincerely.

I have 645Z and the latest Mac Pro (without DVD drive), I dont use S-SW150 and I dont even know what is it good for. Lightroom 5 opens my DNG files, Capture One Pro opens them too, Photoshop CC (ACR) without any problems...

So what does this S-SW150 actually do? What it is good for? As the DVD drive - I dont need it for anything.

Dear dgdb, thank you for your answer and good friendly advices.
I do not force you to use the DCU 5.1 for Mac to convert PEF to the JPEG or TIFF, I simply ask you if you can, please, help me and let me use the DCU 5.1 for that process. That's all what I'm asking about. :-)
But... as all of us definately know now - you have the very special 645Z: the CD S-SW150 included in the box with your camera does not have the Software Installer.app for Mac. Unfortunately. :-(

Concerning the LR, CO, ACR ets. instead of DCU 5.1 - great advice but not what I am asking for (I have all that software)!
let me remind an old anecdote:
- Dear Sir (manager), may I buy a toilet paper in your store?
- No, we have no toilet paper! But we can offer you the sanding paper and the confetti!

Sorry to disturb you.
Thank you for the time you spent with me and for me.
Sincerely.
Good luck.
Cheers.
