Cokin P filter with P645 A 35mm

Hi

Anyone using Cokin P size filters with Pentax 645 A 35mm lens (77mm filter thread) on 645N? Wondering if I need their wide angle filter holder instead of the numerous regular filter holders I have...

I've searched other threads but they only seem to reference the Z size holders or the P645 33-55mm zoom....

Thanks

I used the standard P holder a lot with the A 35mm lens in the olden days--no problems whatsoever. However, I bought mine around 1990, so it's possible that the construction was modified since.

Thanks for the input, lens arrives next week, so I'll test it out and see what happens.

The P series is only recommended for down to 28mm on 35mm format, you'll probably see some decent vignetting in your shots.
The angle of view from your 35 would work out to be about 21mm on 35mm format, so the wide angle adapter for the P series should do the trick as it eliminates the vignetting down to 20mm on 35mm format.

If you have other wide angle lenses or ultra wide lenses you may want to consider moving up to the 100mm filter size which is better suited to medium format and digital because of the wider lenses and larger thread mounts. It is a standard format and will give you plenty of options with many brands to choose from and both resin and glass filters.

we used to cut those P holders to just one slot - seemed to work on my 35 on my Mamiya 645.

I've never used the "P", but have a set of Cokin "Z" filter holder and filters and they work great on my 645D and all lenses (except 25mm for which I had to custom make my own filter holder).
