The way he was waving the camera around, I thought it was a drum major's baton. He is so impressed with the hand held capability - but hand holding he might as well use a point and shoot. No way to extract the full measure of these cameras without a tripod. I have seen so many reviews with full size images without the subject's eyes in focus. Of course no way to even examine these images since it's a video. About all he accomplished was hitting the talking points of the press release.

The photo with the OTUS was shot at 2.8, thats two stops off the bottom. Kinda not fair to the shoot the pentax 55mm wide open at 2.8 and call it a comparison. He shoulda shot the pentax lens two stops closed down as well. In fact , i may just have to do that myself and let you guys know what the results are............

Despite everything he found wrong with it, it seemed to me he really did enjoy having it in his hands. It'll be interesting to see what he has to say about the full-frame when it comes out, especially if Pentax get it as right as they have the 645Z.

he was going for the same look, opening up the the otus would make the depth of field too thin, and having used a otus 85 f1.4 before (ze version) its a very unforgiving lens wide open (this is a manual focus lens) so trying to get the most detail would require your subject to stay very still and a tripod (the lens doesn't have optical stabilization)

If I understand the math correctly, the equivalent aperture for the Pentax system would have been f3.5 roughly. (f3.5 x .79 = f2.8 approx.).

It is an unfair matchup to compare the Pentax 55mm to a Zeiss Otus no matter how much better the Pentax sensor resolution is. Actually, it is a losing battle for most lenses from any brand to go up against the Otus.

he using the otus cause he wanted to get the price close to the pentax system

by the way forget the math and remember he had to be closer to the model when using the pentax just to get similar looking frame using f3.5 would of rendered the scene completely different and would actually show too much detail

on a side note the Nikon pics are so damn easy to pick out due to looking a bit on the warm side in white balance also the shallow depth of field gives away the pentax
