28-45mm Questions

A few questions for those that have the new Pentax 645 28-45mm zoom:

1). Does the lens hood come off and if so, can it be reattached to the lens backwards so as to take up less space in the camera bag?

2). How many 82mm filters can you fit onto the front before it vignettes at 28mm?

3). Is the lens hood plastic or metal?

Ryan, yes the lens hood does come off and installs reversed for storage. The hood is made of plastic. I have not used the lens with any 82mm filters yet. I have 77mm with adapter rings for the rest of my lenses. I can tell you that the performance of this lens is really good if you have a use for it. Just be aware that it is quite large and heavy but that is outweighed by the range and results to me.

I can use a Lee 2 filter kit on the front, plus an 82mm standard size b+w uv on the lens with no vignetting.

I haven't used more than one screw in filter on the front, but I have just started using the Lee filter system on it with absolutely no issues at all.

Just be aware that it is quite large and heavy but that is outweighed by the range and results to me.
