Additional lense

I have got my 645z plus 55mm. Plan to get 2 more lenses. Wide: 28-45 or 25mm? Portrait 90 or 120 or 150. Confusing...

Do you have a local store with Pentax equipment? If you tell them you want to buy two new lenses they should give you some test runs at the store. Borrowing Pentax gear is difficult here in Germany, but perhaps you have some service where you live.
I think there is no better way to decide than to try yourself. Even highly recommended lenses might not be your choice. I got the 35mm art from Sigma for my K-3, very well tested, highly recommended, but i had to return it. It wasn´t made for me.

The 25 is a terrific lens. Sharp wide open from corner to corner, but if you like using filters, you can't unless you come up with a custom mount for it, since there is no thread on the front and the lens shade can't be removed. The 90 have a neat stabilizer, and is sharper than the 120, plus is f2.8. The 150 I don't have :-(

Thanks for the reply. Arne & Victor. In Indonesia, especially the island where I stay, Pentax is not popular. Not many medium format users.
My concern of 90 is high pricing and coz i have owned 55mm. 55mm and 90mm a bit too close.

Why not go to ebay and get a couple of older A lenses, the 120 macro in particular can be picked up for cheap, maybe $120 or so, I think the 200 is about the same price. If yo don't like them then sell them for pretty much the same price as they have been fully depreciated already.

The optics of the 90 are not even close to the 55 in terms of resolution and quality. And also the 90 is macro, but you are right, it is very expensive lens if you don't need the macro part of it.

search the threads on lens recommendations. lots of discussion.
I really like the A120 Macro for landscapes and portraits. It is a winner.
DFA25 and A35 are fantastic. good luck!

check the comparison I made between the 25mm prime and the 28-45 Zoom... the 25 is not that great.

25 VS 28-45

Wow ...Thanks Victor for sharing your view about these 2 lenses. Last week I have made my decision to get the 90mm for my studio shot while the 55mm as the walk around lens. At Jakarta store they got the 28-45mm lense but my heart hesitate me to buy the lens due to the over large size and weight Maybe the only reason for people will go for the 25mm is the size. But i haven't had the chance to see the 25mm lens.

Viktor, maybe U can show us the physical difference between the 2 lens?

You don't have to make your own filter system hitech make the lucroit wide angle system with an adaptor for the 645 25mm F4

Don't have the 25 anymore. I sent it back yesterday. It is certainly wider, about an inch wider, but is not much longer. The zoom is heavier, but what is a pound extra on a kit that is already like 10?

My reason to return was based mostly in optical quality, the 25 is not good anywhere but in the center, especially wide open, if you do any astro photography you are going to need a lens sharp wide open. Plus the stabilizer of the 28-45 is really good.
