Believe me, the zoom is sharper at any aperture specially on the edges. I tested them side by side.
I am not wanting for sharpness as my 25 is even sharper than my A35 which is great, IMO. Edges are quite acceptable on both.
Haven't tried the zoom but i wish it were wider. I wouldn't mind a 21mm for some of my tight spaces and seascapes.

Are you sure your 25mm copy is OK ?
Is it the DFA or the DA version ?
Btw, i was told that there was no more DA/FA 25mm produced yet and for a while, as the Pentax partner factory issuing them had closed down : any confirmation ?

It was the DA, not the DFA, brand new, and by the way, it has dropped like $1000 is $3800 now. Not sure why such drop in price.

It could be that the DA 28-45mm has eclipsed it in popularity at the same price point. Almost as wide but much more versatile.

I know that feel, I bought my 645Z sometime around Nov. 25~26 and only just today did the sun come out, every day before there was no moon, no sun, nothing but fog rain fog overcast fog gray fog snow. 8am it starts getting light and at 4pm it's already night. Welcome to the north

As a matter of fact, i managed to buy the 645Z japanese "commercial photo series" book issued late 2014 ; and on the lens plate pp 82-83, there is no 25mm lens shown... but all the rest of the old and new 645 lenses...
Are both 25mm discontinued ?
