Hello dShelly,
Image Transmitter 1 (IT1) is the Software for the 645D.
You need the IT2 CD for initial installation.
After installation you can update to the most recent IT2 Version (the update you've downloaded).

Doh… Thanks for the clarification. I take it then, that I'm not able to have the camera work directly with Lightroom. I still have to use Image Transmitter to push the photos into LR.

Yes you have to have IT2 and then set up a watched folder in LR.

Hmm. Still having trouble tethering to the computer. Loaded Image Transmitter 2, then updated the software to the latest version and changed the USB setting to PTP. I bought a new USB 3.0 tethering cable from BH Photo, connected the camera to the computer – turned the camera on, and then opened up the Image Transmitter 2 software. The software can't seem to find the camera.

Just to see if there was an issue with the computer recognizing the camera. I set up my Canon 5D3 and had it tethered and shooting photos into Lightroom in about a minute's time.

Has anybody experienced this issue with the 645z? Maybe I bought a bad cable… dunno.

Hello,

I only have the 645D, but you might check this:
Are SD-Cards in your 645Z? Did your computer see the drive letters and can you access both slots?

No, all the fields are blank because the computer can't find the camera.

If you have a cardreader / harddisk with that same connector you can cross check the tethering cable.
No hub in between? Security settings / SW may block unknown USB devices. Try another Computer or USB 2.0 / 3.0 port.
I'll check with my K3 what i see when it's set to PTP mode.

I spoke with Joe Virgil at Pentax and he wondered aloud whether or not my issue has to do with the OS I'm using (currently it's Yosemite 10.10.1). I seem to have done everything correctly, but the Image Transmitter 2 software won't recognize my camera. It's as if nothing's attached to the USB cable. Is anyone currently tethering to Image Transmitter using Yosemite?

I've done some further testing. The issue I was having was that the software could not find my camera. This appears to be a Mac OS issue. I initially installed Image Transmitter 2 (with the update, as well) on the latest version of Yosemite OS for Mac. I spoke with someone at Pentax who suggested I try it on an earlier version of the Mac OS, so I tried it on another Mac I own with Snow Leopard and it recognized the camera. Images come up on the computer somewhere between 2 and 3 seconds. I will note that it took about a minute for the software to recognize the camera. Has this been anyone else's experience?

On a PC it take 2-3 seconds as well and I don't believe it is the IT2 software. If you watch your camera without any tethering you'll notice that it takes about that same amount of time to view a just shot image on the LCD screen. I believe it's a function of how the camera is processing the shot, not IT2.
