Canon EOS 5DS / 5DS R First Impressions Review: Digital Photography Review
50mp 35mm bodes are coming. Quote from preview"As far as dynamic range is concerned, we're told that the new 5DS and 5DS R should give the same performance as the current EOS 5D Mark III. If true, this means that the new cameras won't be able to offer the same industry-leading dynamic range of Sony's current APS-C and full-frame sensors, but at least it isn't a step backwards. And hey - 50MP!"
The same noise and DR performance as other Canon cameras? I don't think that's as much of a plus as Canon seems to think it is. This is the camera Canon should have rolled out around the same time as Nikon outed the D800, and by now we'd already have had 5DS mk2 with improved features.
Just like with the 1DC and C300/500, Canon just loves being late to their own game. They invented the inexpensive high-res full-frame camera, but now others do it better. They invented the video DSLR, but now others do it better
and it helped push the camcorder industry to widely adopt larger low-noise/high DR sensors, and now there are a plethora of excellent video cameras that can go toe-to-toe with cameras developed for cinema that cost 10x as much.
