The A version has the same optical formula as the FA, so the performance should be very similar.

I have the 75mm FA version. I haven't used it a huge amount but it is still a great lens to have in the bag. It's incredibly compact and light so it allows me to take the 645Z out in situations where I would normally grab my K-3. Being among the cheapest 645 lenses available makes it a no-brainer in my opinion.

It my experience it's very sharp in the center wide open. Improves stopping down. Old school rendering, like an old Planar, but with higher contrast. "Popular internet experts" will say it's got "bad bokeh" which I think looks fantastic.

The wild card is the 75mm 2.8 AL from the 67 system. It focuses MUCH closer, and is amazing! I'm testing one on a 645Z now.

What would be different from the 645 FA 75mm 2.8 (which I already have)? To give up autofocus and size/weight, the 67 version would have to make up for it with something incredible.

The 75mm AL focuses to 41cm vs 60cm with the FA. Much closer without a tube! I have found this extremely helpful at a wedding or portrait session. It also renders differently which is subjective and you can decide for yourself if you like it.

Also, you could pick up a 67 body and take pretty wonderful film images. Not everyone wants to do that, I do, some won't. The 67 system has a wonderful line up so I see it as an advantage to put a foot in that world.

On the D and the Z , i use the 75mm FA lens for its compact size and ease of use. I use the 75mm 2.8 AL 67 lens when i am on a tripod and working slower, its got a smooth out of focus look.
