US resident buying 645Z from Henry's?

I apologize if this has been covered, first post here and I'm really interested in getting a 645Z!

I've been pricing the 645Z and I see that Henry's in Canada is offering the body and apparently giving you a free DFA 55mm for $8999 CAD (the price is Canadian dollars, right?) - Is this correct and legit?

$9000 CAD is about $7100 USD - The 645Z body + 55mm lens at B&H total $9700 USD.

Is this just a matter of screwy US pricing by Pentax? Will I get hit with some kind of tariff or tax?

I assume it's a Canadian market product and will require sending the camera to Canada if it ever needs factory service, but I prefer that to buying from Japan, and sending the camera to another continent.

Please advise me!

New lens and body? Depends on USA tariff policy with Vietnam. Canada is NAFTA so used from Henry's is Canadian origin and no duty. Don't know about new stuff being re-exported.

Sounds legit to me. The 55mm was free in the US a few weeks ago as part of a special (info). If you're patient enough, perhaps it will be back.

Henry's Mail order is in Mississauga; main store is in down town Toronto very well known and respected Photo Outlet for decades in Canada sell new and used photo & video. Would buy from Japan & Vietnam directly.
Canadian dollar is trading roughly $.75 to $1.00 US . We were at par about a year ago. Canadian dollar remains strong against most other world currencies incl Yen, AUS$ etc.
You get a 25% discount on products purchased in Canada and depending on where we Buy it from other than the USA you do get a significant discount.
The only ??? mark is the warranty. You might have to mail it up to Henry's for repair via USPS ,Ups , FedEx, Puralator etc.
There is more $ value of trade going back and forth between Canada and the USA than any other 2 countries on Earth!

To summarize the above points and add a few of my own:
  • The price is probably legitimate, though there is an outside chance that their Web site does automated currency conversion.
  • There is no tariff on photographic cameras and lenses when importing to the U.S. from Canada (NAFTA)
  • Despite the above, you might be hit for customs broker fees if you have the camera shipped via some carriers. UPS is notorious for tacking on a significant and required fee for this service.
  • You will not be able to claim the Ricoh/Pentax Canada warranty unless the camera is sent to their service facility from within Canada. I believe that Ricoh/Pentax USA will honor the general one year warranty should you require service and have proof of purchase from Henry's.
  • Both Ricoh/Pentax Canada and Ricoh/Pentax USA limit warranty service to purchases from authorized dealers and Henry's is an authorized dealer. It is unlikely that the price on the camera is due to gray market sourcing.

Just googled Henry's from here in Canada 645z @$8999.98 can. plus $12,95.expedited post to Grand Portage Minnesota plus 55mm lens bonus. They also have 3 year warranty optional for $900 and change which you would get the 25% currency discount. Over and above manufacturers
You would get the 25% currency discount on every thing and would not have to pay the 13% HST because its shipped out of the country I don't know about sales taxes incoming to the USA or your State. Price Would show up in checkout before you push the confirm button in Paypal

Henry's is the arguably the best camera store in Canada and I highly recommend them. I have purchased thousands of dollars of camera equipment from them without so much as a hiccup.

Just one thing, brokers fees can be ugly so if I were you I'd pick up the phone to Henrys and specifically ask for an expedited version of shipping to help. It will be more expensive but not as painful as the few hundred dollars you could end up paying.

As soon as these bodies go for $1500 CA, I'll be grabbing a pair!
Lenses are always a problem though.

My new 645Z + 55mm is being delivered today. I got a Pentax USA warranty from an authorized dealer but didn't quite get the same monetary deal. All in all, I got the lens free plus $500 off MSRP. But, I plan to buy any lenses from Henry's that I can't find used.
