645Z with Profoto B1 HHS?

I looked at the Profoto B1 lights recently. They offer the capability to use higher shutter speeds to bring down the ambient, but they show only Canon and Nikon transmitters. Does anyone know if HHS high speed flash is available in any way with the 645Z?

HHS is only available for Canon and Nikon. Joey Skibel who uses the Pentax 645z and Profoto Bis says the only way to overcome the 1/125 sync speed is with neutral density filters.

Send a e-mail to info@profoto.com and ask them when Profoto TTL/HSS will support Pentax 645Z. I have done so, and a lot friends to me.

I think the only way to trigger external speedlights on HSS mode on pentax system is this one, which convert optical to radio signal, but i am not sure if it works with Profoto B1, if it has an optical ''eye'' then it could be working.

Here is how it works

645z hot shoe is turned off above 1/125. As Darryl says above, the only way to overcome this is ND Filters. It's a huge pain but I've learned to live with it. I hope Pentax might release a firmware update and undo the hot-shoe off problem.

The 540FGZII is the only official way to do HSS,

....according to Pentax (see the chart in the manual), and that's on camera---although I just got one, and am going to try it with the 9' cord and the shoe adapters---you need 2, because the sync port on the camera is old style pc, not the 5 pin you need, and the 540FGZII doesn't have a 5 pin port like the older 540FGZ (Ay-yi-yi).

Love my Z, but there are a few boneheaded things going on design wise, and this is a big one.

If you're in AZ you can ask here:

Thanks. In the end, I returned the camera. It was missing too many features for what I needed it for. Will settle for 5DSR when it comes out. Thanks.

645Z + Profoto B1s

I use the 645Z with Profoto B1s by simply setting the B1s to slave and firing a Pentax 540FGZ11 set to HS into the B1, this lets you use any shutter speed on the camera, you need line of sight of course and you don't get TTL. Its not ideal but it works for a lot of situations, hopefully Profoto or someone else will soon have a trigger/transmitter that will give the same setup as Canon/Nikon also iv noticed the new Phaseone cameras have the triggers built into the camera.
