US: 2-year Pentax warranty extension for 645D/Z

I think this is a fairly recent addition, but you can now get a 2-year warranty extension for the 645Z and 645D in the US. It costs $110, up from $19.95 for existing K-mount DSLRs (still cheaper than third-party warranties and the Ricoh gold service plan). I wonder if this will be required for the K-3 II as well.

Guess you didnt read the details. "excluding the 645Z and 645D" , the one for the 645d/645z is $800 - $2k at BHPhoto

That's not what I'm reading about the $110 warranty at B&H "all Ricoh and Pentax advanced interchangeable lens cameras with an MSRP above $1000, excluding the 645Z and 645D". $50 for "all Ricoh and Pentax interchangeable lens cameras with an MSRP under $1000".

The 645z has the Pentax Advantage Platinum 3-Year Extended Warranty for the 645Z and Select Lenses at $1999.95!

So, if I'm understanding this right... first, Pentax switched warranty service from CRIS to Precision Camera, which produced a large number of warranty repair horror stories. Then, they increased the price for the two-year warranty for some DSLRs by 250%, and others by more than 500%. Can this be right? If so, I'm not thrilled. This makes me a lot less enthusiastic about buying more gear.

Ouch!!! Going through B&H offerings, I see $2,000, $110, $50, $30 for a p&s, and then the $19.95 (how long this will last is an open question). So, I guess the last great bargain with Pentax is biting the dust.

It would have been nice to have some type of announcement.

Oops, that's what I get for posting at 2 in the morning! Too bad they're raising prices, but $20 was almost too good to be true for Pentax's flagships.

Since nobody knows about this though, perhaps the $20 warranty will continue to the honored. I wonder if this was launched in anticipation of the full frame...

Your support is the same as always. What is new/changed are the cost-plus warranty extension options which include such features as free loaners. For perspective:
