How to disable the AEL locking button Pentax 645D

Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone know if the AEL locking button on the Pentax 645D can be disabled in some way. Perhaps by a firmware modification or something. The camera got a knock which has affected nothing but this button. What happens now is that the camera is permanently locking the exposure, as if the button were permanently pressed down. I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Regards, johnmb

I don't think it can be disabled. Are you still covered under warranty?

Hi Adam. Thanks for your quick reply. No I am sorry to say I am not covered now by any warranty. If the AEL cannot be disabled by software tweaking, would you recommend sending it in to a service center?

Yup, I think this is the only option unless you're comfortable messing with it yourself, which I wouldn't recommend on a camera as expensive as the 645D.
