New here

Hi, I'm new to PF in terms of actually signing up and remembering passwords (this time) and posting ... although I've read the Medium Format forum many a time.
Recently I bought myself a lightly used 645D and 55mm sdm, for (is the wife watching?) some money. But not as much as they used to be. I also own a K-5 (via K10D and -whisper- K-7) and a 645N. Generally speaking though, although I enjoyed the challenge of getting everything right in camera for film, it didn't lend itself to the sort of photography I like (there's a fair amount of experimenting ...)

If you wander over to 'Welcomes and introductions' you'll spot some non MF photos in there as well.

I'm just going to start with a few shots that i'm happy with since I bought the 645D in April. (and yes, I'd normally put these in with 'post your photos') (It took a month to get one, such is the learning curve of new gear) Pictures 1 and 3 are from West Bay, Dorset
Picture 2 is a 5 part pano, in a somewhat cramped space at Steam, railway museum in Swindon
Picture 4 is a field that I used to live near (revisiting similar shots with the 645D - there's a series over the years)
Picture 5 are my two favourite people but is mostly seeing the 645D's suitability for everyday use ... amazingly, it works (but is a little slow), worth it though, unless I know I'm going to need zooms.

I do like to babble on, every now and then ...

Anyway ... Hello!

Stop it! There is used 645D for sale for a bit more than I can afford and I need to save my pennies for the FF (which I at least have the glass for).

Those are wonderful shots you have posted.

Thanks for your kind words. Billk, just do it, surely the usage of a MF camera and a 35mm camera are different. I bet you've got a camera that can do most of what a 35mm camera can do already...
The thing is, those few reviews that compare FF with MF usually focus on resolution first, where as the reason I got one is entirely for the look of the pictures. I would have been happy with a 20mpx MF camera. You won't get that look from 35mm, even with brighter lenses.

Great shots Steve!

I'm also a recent 645D buyer and think I will sell my 645N and manual 45 and 75 lenses. I bought 2 P67 lenses that work very well on the 645, namely the 55f4 and the 105f2.4. I highly recommend the former in particular.

Incidentally, I studied in the West Country (Bath) in the 70s and recall riding my motorbike down to West Bay from Yeovil in the heatwave summer of '76!

cheers,
David
