Hi there... I seem to be having a challenge operating my 645Z with my AF 160FC Ring Flash and my Cactus V6 Transceiver.

I have been trying to use my Pentax AF 160FC and my Cactus V6 Transceiver with my 645Z in Manual and X sync modes; and every exposure has been consistently underexposed. The 645Z X sync speed is 1/125. I have noticed that on the 645Z’s rear LCD panel, when the 645Z is set to “X” or “M” there is a flashing “-5” in RED, which I am unable to adjust. Is there anyone who experienced this? If yes, how was it corrected?

Ignore the-5. Your exposure is based on a manual flash setting. The meter is telling you that it is under exposed based on what it knows. You being a smart strobist will be adding key, fill, and other lighting to build the perfect exposure. Have fun!

Hi Matt,

After I submitted the post, I actually ignored the "-5" and tested each RF60 from the extremes: full, 1/2 and 1/4 power, etc. and it worked. During the coming days, I would be doing further tests with a view to establish appropriate settings. Thanks again.

Varying flash power, Aperture and distance of flash from subject as well as sensitivity will all effect flash exposure results.
