55 Lens

I'm looking at two of these 6x7 55 f4 lens. One a late model and one maybe a tad older but still a post-Takumar lens. Which would be the better of the two? Or, does it matter. One has 8 elements in 7 groups and the other 9 elements in 8 groups.

Based on user reviews, the new version is better optically but also a bit heavier. With such a small difference in price I would probably go for the newer one.

The Pentax 67 55/4 is optically different than the Pentax 6x7 55/4 generation. The 67 generation of that lens is more highly regarded than the prior 6x7 generation. I shoot the 67 generation version of that lens and and like it a lot.

Yeah, the latest 55mm f/4 was a total redesign from the second version. The latest is a Distagon-like design using thin elements, while the second version is somewhat similar to the 45mm, which used some thick elements and had a Biogon heritage.
