645Z and the Ecuadorean Andes...so far

One week in on a three week trip and having garnered as much advice and guidance as possible on gear to take a few thoughts on how that worked out.

1. Thanks to Unkipunkifor his inadvertent guidance on the F-stop backpack and Capture Pro plate. I was an advocate for another nameless bag but after a couple of 10k hikes at altitude the F-stop Guru was ideal. Witht he waist strap it sits n the waist and not on the shoulders.

2. I brought the 35, 45-85, 80-160, 120 macro and 300 and really should have brought the 35 and 80-160 and maybe the 120 macro but could have lived without that.

3. I wish I had bitten the bullet and bought the 28-45, the 35 was almost wide enough for one location in particular (Lake Quilatoa, look it up), I think the 28-45 may have done it but definitely the 25. Had to resort to stitching but ther egoes the Lee Big Stopper. Oh well, I'll have to come back.

4. There are some wonderful opportunities at local markets for street photography but the 645Z is useless for that. My other camera is a DXO One and it is phenomenal.

5. Grads are a must. Exposure blending and luminosity masking will help definitely but when it's bright it's bright.

6. It seems that I am down to a 2-3 lens kit, I think I'll have to sell a child to get one of the widest lenses!

7. Bring plenty of storage, I'm absolutely not shutter happy, a product of film, but I'm plowing through cards!!

Equally bewildered. When can we expect some shots?

I'm in the same boat. For my K-3 files, only the Quad core i7 in my desktop provides satisfactory speed. It has to be a lot slower with a 51 MP file. Even on trips to Niagara Falls to visit the step son and my daughter, when i take my laptop for email, I process when I get home.

I shoot RAW+JPGs (medium size) just for this reason. But no worries, we're just impatient!

Question about street shooting. Did you say the 645Z was inappropriate because of its size or it's responsiveness?

Oh, we can wait... It's too bad though, I've got an i7 in my laptop, so it wouldn't be a problem for me...
