What I frequently see in order confirmation orders is that orders aren't fully accepted until the despatch date. They may have taken only a preauthorisation and ring fenced the money to fully charge on despatch.

Everything correct.Nevertheless there might be problems with people not understandig this fact and complaining on Facebook or in forums.
On the other hand, if you ship althogh you made en error, it is likely to get positie feedback somewhere. As a clever company, you are comparing the reputational risk and potential positive feedback vs. the loss you make by accepting the lower price. Off course keeping in mind that not all people ordering it for 1099 would order for 1599, too. So the loss ist smaller than 20*500, if 20 have been ordered.

In a situation like this there always will be some reputational risk. If you ship for the regular price, there will be 20 people pissed off. If you ship for the lower price, there will be another 100 people pissed off because they didn't get the lower price...

Why can't people just be grown ups and realize that it was a mistake and it was never to be and move on.

I am going to get this lens and when I saw it at $1099 I was excited but knew deep down that it was not true. Thus I lowered my expectations immediately.

We don't have the right to complain about everything.

I pre-ordered it at the lower price just the night before it went up. B&H confirmed the pre-order. Don't know whether they'll stick with the price, but I have found them extraordinarily considerate and supportive of the customer, and believe there is a more than 50% chance they'll stick with the price for my order. I'll keep everyone in the loop as to what finally happens. This is all guessing, but I believe the slightly improved glass selection will improve performance above the current 35mm, and I guess the lens will be a real winner for $1K.

B&H honoured the early bird price in my case. Lens shipped today.

That's phenomenal! Great news for you guys.

A win is a win.

I was going to order is at the early price, but when I factored in conversion to AUD and import tax it was about the same.

Sure beats the AUD5,500 being asked by a Japanese seller on eBay.

It will end up costing about AUD1,600, plus 10% GST and processing fees.

You all got lucky then - was definitely a mistake price. That's equivalent to about 750 - about half of what I paid for mine...Mind you our VAT is also 20%...

It's on the Aussie Pentax site for $1799 I think.

Pentax 35mm MF was as special order for Australia. Must have changed. Edit: Indeed it has now there is quite a range.

I had a special order for the old version of the 35mm in Jan 2015, $1,900 was the cost and it took 6 months to get here. So that price now is great, but it looks like the old version (at least the photo).

If it is the new version that is the best price anywhere in the world, that I now of.

I am going to check it all out next week.

The description says HD D-FA, plus says 9 aperture blades, the old one had 8. Plus the "whats in the box" section has it listed all correctly for the new model.

Lets only hope!

Go for it, if it is the new one.

If it is the new version for that price, that is about US1,315. That is cheap.

I was an early buyer of 645Z, and my dealer and I expressed concerns about lack of lens choice. CR Kennedy has responded, well done.
