How is it compared to using Image Transmitter 2 to a LR monitored directory for automated import?

Steve
The first thing is that IT2 has an interface that shows a rather small image which you cannot enlarge or zoom-in to check if the image is in focus. With Lightroom, you get a much larger image - that is, if you're working on a large monitor. If you're tethering to a small laptop, then image that comes are about the same - but you still can't zoom-in to the image on IT2 to check focus.

Also, with LR you can quickly add some post processing to show the client some enriched looks, and you can do a global save of all your files as TIFFS and save them onto a separate hard to give to the client when the shoot is over. It's not as quick and simple as Capture One is, but it's very functional and effective for photoshoots when the client's on set.

I seemed to have hit a glitch or I'm doing something wrong in regards to the Pentax plugin. LR is no longer recognizing my camera. Has anyone else experienced this issue. I've tried working in an existing catalogue, and also created a new catalog and watch folder for the photos. Any thoughts?

Okay, I figured it out. Some time ago, actually. For each new session, I have to create a new catalogue, otherwise Lightroom doesn't recognize the camera - at least that's been my experience.

I've used the camera tethered about dozen times, now and it's been rock solid. The images do take a little longer to show up, which is probably due to the file size. My DNG files come in about every 4 seconds.

Is this working with the Pentax 645D?

I don't own the 645D, so I'm not sure. I do know that the Pentax plugin for Lightroom is free, so it's worth downloading to find out. Let me know if it works.
