$2038: DA 28-45MM F/4.5 ED AW SR HD on Ebay

Anyone else happen to notice that POPFLASH PHOTO in Thousand Oaks, CA just sold (4) of these lenses today and yesterday for $,2038 on Ebay? Current market value is at least $3,500.

I was skeptical, but pulled the trigger because it appears they haven’t had a single negative feedback left with over 12,000 transactions since 2008. I happened to have another item coming from them through the Santa Clarita Post Office, which has 50 terrible and recent one star reviews on yelp. For this reason, I paid an extra $67 to ship with FedEx.

If anyone else wants to get in on this they still have it listed on their website, so they might have more copies to put up on ebay.

let's see, I just pulled the trigger on the only 25mm DA that they had. It showed up on their website as well. Killer deals.

Many thanks for the heads-up.

I just bought a 28-45mm for an amazing price (even when factoring in the weak £ to $ exchange rate). Too good to be true? Dunno. I paid using PayPal so have buyer protection.

Drat. Just had an e-mail to say that it had sold minutes before I placed my order!!

Was the offer pulled, or just sold out? Can't seem to find in on ebay (please post links if possible when starting threads in this forum).

Sold out but couldn't be removed from their website quick enough. I got an immediate PayPal refund.

Looks like they had a total of 5 on ebay alone. I was contemplating buying an extra one to make a quick $1500 but was skeptical of the deal in the first place so I held back. I'm thinking something must have been wrong in Thousand Oaks for them to part with all those lenses and get $7500-8500 less than they easily could have gotten.

Here are the recently sold 28-45 lenses on ebay:

@GarethC7, looks like they still have one more 25mm; still available on ebay for $3,028 which is a killer deal just like you said.

@Sarnian and Adam, sorry you missed out, but it might be worth sending an email to them to see if more will be available.

funnily enough, the day before I had sold a Leica 35 Summilux and had told my wife I wanted to sell a bit more stuff to buy the 28-45 as the 25 was impossible to find. I would have bought either but preferred this so it worked out wonderfully!

@GarethC7, did you ship with USPS? If you did, I hope all goes well. I happened to have another order with Pop Flash Photo (Singh-Ray filter) that is still on it's way. I was looking at the tracking info for that purchase and saw it was dispatched to the Santa Clarita Post Office. I was curious where Santa Clarita was so I googled it. Turns out this post office is a mess. Stories of packages departing their office but no tracking updates after that. One story I saw had a package bound for Canada go to ENGLAND! Well, sure enough, my package is stalled on 'departed Santa Clarita' and was scheduled to arrive yesterday. This is why I forked over the $67 for FedEx for the lens. See the link below for the yellow page reviews on Santa Clarita PO:
US Post Office Santa Clarita, CA, 91383 - YP.com

I sincerely hope you don't experience any problems with this delivery if you used their free USPS shipping.

Just wanted to chime in, I was one of the lucky few who got one of the 28-45's. It was already shipped via fedex, but I didn't select it as expedited shipping, it was the standard shipping. It's scheduled to arrive on the 26th so hopefully all goes well.

I have the new 35mm on pre-order at b&h which I'm probably going to cancel now, but I'm holding on until I get the 28-45 in my hands just to be sure.

I take it you purchased one of the 5 on eBay as I did? I'm scheduled to get mine on Wednesday.

I suspect someone made a pricing error, likely a now former employee.

Me too!!!

Generally though for Canadians, we don't get those same free shipping options for packages that remain domestically shipped in the US. I'll check Monday to confirm.

Just phoned them, they are labelled used but good as new and they got a killer deal from Pentax US so wanted to ship them out from there. It is indeed Christmas. He got 5 28-45's, all gone and 2-3 25's, and they're all gone. No more to follow.
