if it takes canon 3 years + to update their pro bodies, I wouldn't hold your breath on a new 645z

Probably in another 3 years or so. At least it's not going to be a 13 year wait for a new model like the 645 to 645n

The body is great . Please make some more DFA lenses as soon as possible. The lens program sucks. More, faster, lighter, no SR, wider, tighter, rant , rant, rant..............

Hi all

Post Christmas musings.

I would only add two things to things to the wish list for the body:

1. Flash sync at 1/250 0r faster
2. Body rework to eliminate all of the bulk that is present for film canisters that are redundant .... this would give a body with the Leica S characteristics

Outside the body, of course long primes are a dream, but to be honest, the FF bodies are so well catered for here, that there is no point. Third party dreams : Capture One (but no chance here), ProFoto B1 and B2 dedicated TTL modules

Not much else really ..... a 2:1 or 3:1 macro would be nice, but is nothing other than fantasy.

Best wishes for the Season

Ed

well we should expect any leaf lens for flash sync speed since they never ever make cameras with higher flash sync speed. 16 bit should be also fine.

Extend auto focus points instead of keeping them in the center of the frame.

I think the new phase one is encouraging for us little pentax guys, it's a full frame sony chip. Hopefully this means down the track we will get a larger chip in a 645z successor from Sony as well.

I doubt it would have 100mp, but I'd love a larger sensor!

I am sure they'll use the same sensor, just for marketing reasons. Chances are they'll switch gears with their lens road map. Perhaps they'll have a switch for "crop sensor" mode. Medium format full frame will be back. Exciting.

The 28-45 is DA, so they would need some sort of crop mode I guess. Unless the new DFA35 is meant for a future FF.

I guess that's why they came up with it.

I saw a new CMOS FF medium format camera and the price was surprisingly expansive($4999 for body and digital back only). Until Pentax get 16bit, better UI, leaf shutter lens, sync speed, more features(hyperlocal mode), UHS-2, and etc, we shouldn't expect FF medium format I assume.

Hard to improve a lot on the existing body while still being realistic, there's so much there already. Going to 16 bit alone would be great, anything on top of that would be gravy. Going to a full sized 645 sensor would be amazing too - I wonder if the new DA lenses would cover the full 645 image circle?

Leaf shutters usually go in the lens, not the body right?

A true 16 bit body with 80MP and retaining the current crop (and thus all the lenses) would be a sweet spot compromise in my book, and leave the 100MP alone for now.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, just signed up actually.
Photography is not my profession, instead it's my passion and I shoot with a 645Z and Canon FF in case anyone is curious...
I was surprised to read about the new PhaseOne 100MP digital back this morning. Since Pentax shares Sony sensor tech with PhaseOne/Hasselblad I suspect this means we will likely see a full frame 100MP sensor in the next 645 body.
15 stops of dynamic range and true 16 bit color.... as well as an even better ISO performance... seems quite exciting! Question is when will this new 645 be released?

Maybe around 2018? Btw we are not sure if SONY provide that FF sensor. Even so, it's too expansive. It's too early to use FF mf sensor anyway.
