I think PhaseOne has done an awesome job... with there back over the past 6 years... but is it just me... or does that PhaseOne XF camera look like a sleek (H) body...

I have often said that 100 MPs may not be enough capture resolution to fully resolve the fine detail in some landscapes. Of course, I was thinking of the cropped sensor of the 645z or even the smaller FF sensor, not the humongous FF 645 sensor found in the Phase One cams.

Peter Eastway | Antarctica

He is selling prints up to 60 inch (1.5 metre) wide.
On the Eizo here I took the penguins up to 200% - the whole image would be 179 inch (4.2 metre) wide-and the penguins were just starting to get soft.

This 100MP sensor is made by Sony.

Sony provides sensors to Pentax.

Can you image the resolution of this 100MP sensor in a Pentax camera "with pixel shift"? It would be the equivalent of a 240MP image!!!

Very nice, but, on my 2700 pixels screen plussed to maximum detail there are some depth of field issues.

I wonder if we will ever see something like this in a video camera? Something in the future that will out resolve IMAX

As far as size is concerned, the Alexa 65's 54x25mm 6.5K sensor is the largest and highest-res in motion video, but this camera is a specialty item that's only rented out by Arri, you can't actually buy one even if you had the money for it. Either way, one can't reliably digitize and print film while preserving more than 6-8K of real detail, so you could say the Alexa 65 is already on par with IMAX.

If Arri had managed to squeeze in a 54x40mm sensor, then anamorphic lenses could be used to compress even more detail into the shot, but honestly I think that this is more than enough as 4K as the distribution format will be around for a while, and you're just oversampling at this point.

It is literally only 200 credit cards thick!
You only need $240 on each card...
(It is 152mm thick, a credit card is 0.76mm thick)

Good point. IMAX may theoretically have 18K digital but it's probably under half of that in real world use.

True the Alexa 65 is pretty amazing but I still want 54x40mm sensor in movies!

I was debating on getting a 4k 43" or 49" UHD. Do you also view your own images on that UHD? If so, what system drives your images? Not sure my 2010 Mac Pro video card has compatibility with 4k specs.

Yes, I view my own images on it also. I am a PC guy, so can`t comment on the Mac`s abilities.
I bought an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card to get the frame refresh rate to 60 Hz. The on-board 4K output from my MSI "Z170 gaming M5" mother-board was not cutting it.
Oh and had to put the display into game mode to stop the mouse pointer from stalling and being erratic.
After getting everything running smooth, it`s really nice.

I'm on a PC (with a tiny 32" 4k) but you can definitely put a video card in your mac pro that will beef it up a bit.

Thanks so much Ex Finn and Gavincato. The link comes in handy.

I was exploring the larger 4k UHD froom a cost savings stand point, but then maybe that is false economy. May I ask what 4k 32" monitors you like?

i viewed these images last night on my 27" retina iMac. The picture of the girl blew my mind. The detail was incredible.....I just sat there in amazement. Ever since getting the computer the only portrait images that usually stand out are medium format shots. You can really start to see the differences between the cameras.
