Very, very few photographers in professional practice actually pay cash hands down for these big systems. It is not an economical or rational use of almost 50G. More commonly they and other systems are acquired under commercial lease arrangements (like cars, and a lot of other studio equipment) to provide for tax advantages and easy upgrading/replacement as and when required or desired. The photographer must of course have the proven financial means to go through with the lease and the repayments — all the more challenging if one has a mortgage and family to look after. Advertising agencies are one area where commercial leasing of mega-expensive photographic equipment systems are very common. For the rest. day dreaming will just have to do.
