A sticking/lazy solenoid controlling the mirror activation/mirror lock-up is a well-known problem in all Pentax 6x7, 67 and less commonly, the 67ii camera. If the fault is intermittent, reliability is compromised, inconveniently when it is needed most! Have the camera professionally assessed and serviced to address this problem, usually involving a spray, and a few repeated activations to remedy. Replacement, if needed, comes from another camera, not new. There is quite a bit of disassembly involved followed, by calibration back to original tolerances.
The mrror reset on the vintage Pentax 6x7/67 cameras is only used in the event of accidental activation of the mirror lock-up with the shutter cocked, or in the event of a flat battery. In either and both cases, a frame is sacrificed as a normal step in the reset process.
