SMC Pentax 67 300/4 on 645

I just got this lens from Japan pretty cheap and thought I'd give it a try based on MikeSF's results with a similar one.
I'm using the Photodiox 67 to 645 adapter for my 645D. I put flat black paint inside the adapter as I have heard needs to be done for reducing reflections.
Everything seems to be good but I'm curious about how this lens/adapter/body combo all works together.

Is the 645D mount "crippled" like the K mount is for old lens aperture adjustments? Or can I somehow get feedback on the D when changing the aperture ring? It looks like there are two levers in the 645 mount to do that.

I'd love to see the D recognize the aperture setting if possible, and ideally control it. Is either of these things possible? I didn't see that "Allow use of aperture ring" setting in there but the lens has an auto/manual switch I imagine is for aperture. I'm hoping that will allow what I'd like to see but I could also live with stop down metering via the green button if need be. I do that with some old Leica glass on K mount and it works well enough.

Just want to get the gist of how these can best work together. Thanks!

The 645D mount is not crippled, so you can shoot with open aperture metering in M and Av exposure modes if the adapter supports it.

I have used 67 lenses on the 645D and Z with a genuine Pentax adapter with no problems.

The camera understands the aperture you are using, but cannot control it (there is no way for any body to control the aperture on a Pentax 67 lens).

Is it the Fotodiox adapter? Does your camera know what f-stop the lens is set to?

it's a pentax adapter, I was lucky to find. all camera functions work. it's manual focus and the 300mm needs a lens support. my setup works from a tri or monopod.

So, did you get the M* 300 or the older version that used conventional glass?

I think it must be the older version. It just says SMC PENTAX 67. Haven't done anything with it besides some test shots so far.
I can see the aperture lever on the adapter move when I change the aperture ring but the camera always shows F--- on the display.
