Firmware update 1.33 for 645D

RICOH has released a firmware update for the 645D, version 1.33. It corrects an issue introduced with firmware 1.32 related to in-lens shake reduction.

I just took delivery on a new 645D, can I go straight to this firmware update or do I have to install each one sequentially?

Without even looking, Pentax updates are always comprehensive. So...just do the latest one and it will include all earlier ones.

Congrats with your new camera. Tell us how it goes.

I generally like the output of CCD sensors better than CMOS but know that because of high is limitations the world has given up on CCD.

The 645D will have excellent image quality at low iso's but you have to be a patient operator as its a slow camera.

I think that camera's responsiveness is one of the main factors to choose the 645z over the D (if you need camera responsiveness, that is). Plus, better high ISO means better long exposures, and for landscape photographers (and architectural, astronomy, etc) this is a huge limitation on the D. That said, the 645D is a wonderful camera, groundbreaking in the Digital MF world and produces great images After having used Phase (P45, P65) and Leaf (12R) medium format (and a little interval with the D8000E) I come back to MF with the 645D and it was on a different planet compared with Phase's offering (at the time at least) as far as usability in the field. Congrats and enjoy!

I used to use the D alongside a D800E due to the limitations of the D at high ISO and when quick write times were needed (or when the dark frame was a problem). With the Z, I can do everything I need with one camera and produce better results to boot.

The D was still superb for its time and would still be amazing for some users depending on their approach to shooting.

Totally agree with you Ed, the Z is the most versatile digital MF camera costing less than an arm and a leg, and even if you are prepared to spend double the money or more probably only the Leica S is DSLR-like enough. Pentax definitely got a winner with this camera, but they have to concentrate on lenses now...
