Then I already feel sorry for your bank account... The 90mm is amazing, and in my opinion the best lens available for the 645. The DFA35, by comparison, is "just" a very good lens.
Exactly my experience ! The DFA35 is a very good Lens, but the DFA90 is on another level.

Too bad there aren't any comparison tests between the A 35, FA 35 and DFA 35. I have the old manual version, but it needs service before I can use it and thought about going for the new DFA because I don't want to use Liveview for every shot. What about the FA?

I was just in this position, I went with the 35 over the 28-45 only due to size. I use a tripod only when I need to and teh 28-45 was just to big to hike around with

Must be the reason people have been commenting that in losing weight as I do hike with the Z and 28-45.

Had more dramas with it lately as on my way to Hungary recently, I was seated in an exit row so wrapped my coat around the z and the 28-45 to cushion it from sliding around in the overhead locker. Another passenger yanked the coat out as hard as he could despite me asking him not to and sent the camera flying in the air. The camera hit the arm of the seat shattering the lens hood but thankfully doing no damage to the lens or camera.

Every 35mm lens will have the same DOF at the same aperture at the same magnification and focusing distance.

That's not quite how it is in reality, Pål. The 35mm focal length is specified when the lens is focused at infinity. As the focus distance becomes shorter then the focal length (35mm) is no longer accurate and will vary in either direction by the nature of the focusing method employed (retrofocus, overall linear extension, internal extension etc). If magnification is specified then it's the framing and not the shooting position or focal length that is the deciding factor.

It's quite feasible that one 35mm lens will have different DoF to another based on their different internal movements leading to an increase or decrease of their nominal focal length. With wide angle lenses such as 35mm, the far DoF limit will show very little change but it will be possible to see improved or degraded resolution at the near DoF limit (foreground objects in the 1.7-2.1 metre range).

Eg....the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens reduces from 100mm at infinity to 78mm at minimum focus distance.
