That's not quite how it is in reality, Pål. The 35mm focal length is specified when the lens is focused at infinity. As the focus distance becomes shorter then the focal length (35mm) is no longer accurate and will vary in either direction by the nature of the focusing method employed (retrofocus, overall linear extension, internal extension etc). If magnification is specified then it's the framing and not the shooting position or focal length that is the deciding factor.
It's quite feasible that one 35mm lens will have different DoF to another based on their different internal movements leading to an increase or decrease of their nominal focal length. With wide angle lenses such as 35mm, the far DoF limit will show very little change but it will be possible to see improved or degraded resolution at the near DoF limit (foreground objects in the 1.7-2.1 metre range).
Eg....the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens reduces from 100mm at infinity to 78mm at minimum focus distance.
