6x7-Best there Is

I've found the old6x7 MLU is about as good as it gets and with lens prices having fallen I now have an assortment I never had back in the 80's such as the 45 f4, 55 f2.8, 75 f4.5, 165 f2.8 and 90 f2.8 along with the LS counterpart. Got the bases covered.

The 67 was the Pentax flagship before the D and Z came out. Its quality still shines through to this day.

Beautiful examples. Boy do I miss film. There is something magical about images created with film.

I am developing old habits again: 50% film over the last month. I suspect it might go up once I get 120 film that is supposed to be in the mail... Beautiful pictures!

I ordered some RPX-4oo and waiting to try it. I've seen excellent results with it in 120 and 35mm. It'll be interesting to see how it compares with Tri-X.

True. I love the convenience of digital, but lately I've been thinking more and more about going back to film.

I already have a 165 LS lens which I have tried on my K3 with great results. I am tempted to get a 6x7 body and a lens or two and build a small package to try film again. Oh man... there aren't enough hours in a day to do all these things. As you mentioned, digital is so convenient, we are so spoiled with the instant gratification it offers. But then again, it was always nice to anticipate what came back from the lab or how our own darkroom prints turned out. The good old days!!

The 6x7, 67 and 67II were all designed for pro use. Here's a published shot from many years ago. Cropped to square.

I use to do wedding using two 6x7's and that was a real job. After I'd shoot a roll of 220 VPS I handed it to my assistant who in turn would relaod it while handing me a ready to go body already loaded with 220 VPS. I used two Photogenic PL1500 lights with one inside a large Halo light modifier, a 60 inch umbrella for fill both lights on Talon 8 feet light stands and lights triggered by two Quantum 4i Radio Slaves. Lots of work but the end result was great.

A bridal portrait using the 165 f4 LS lens.

I'm not sure how sensible (as an amateur) it was for me to splash out on a P67 II recently, however I had been so impressed with results from my then P6x7 that I made the move to gain the better metering and viewfinder.

I first started buying 67 lenses to use with my 645D. I now have (all SMC versions) the 55 f4, 75 f4.5, 150 f2.4 and 200 f4. I also have a cheap 135 f4 macro on the way.
