Anyone Using 645N

Just purchased this camera and 645D with a few lenses. I am looking forward to using both. I shot with MF film back in the day and previously owned a 645D and sold it. Now I have plenty of time to do what I want to do. Any suggestions regarding what I purchased? Thank you

I have the original 645 (before the 645N). Nice camera, the meter on the 645 is not always reliable, it's worth double checking exposures as 120 film adds up.

Re: Anyone Using 645N

I have two 645NII bodies, very similar if not identical in most respects to the 645N. Is there something in particular about which you are wondering?

Just the IQ with that camera and the 645FA lenses and the A 120 Macro. Thank you

Also, how good is the meter?

The IQ should be excellent really. Wouldn't worry about that. Just shoot.

645 Kit

Hi Eric, thank you. Just received the camera and lenses. Trying it out now. Question: I tried my Nikon sb-24 older flash but does not flash on the camera. Is it possible the flash is not compatible with this camera? Thanks I will post some once I try it out and have it processed

Flash sync on the 645n is 1/60 sec. I recommend the original Pentax AF360FGZ flash for it, as it will do genuine TTL in 645 mode.

I just tried 2 lenses and the camera will not AF. I tried the 75 and moved the switch to AF. The 45 FA has not AF/MF switch on it. That lens does not AF either.
Any suggestions???

maybe try cleaning the contacts? The 45 was working for me. Does the camera have a AF switch too?

The camera has AF switch for spot focusing and area focusing. Tried both. The 45 has no switch on the lens but the 75 does and I switched to AF. I will try again tomorrow, I tried cleaning the contacts but I will re clean them again in the morning.

In the Viewfinder there is : 1000F Don't know what that is.

Hi Eric, I read this and makes sense. I removed the back and the 75 works in AF. I tried the 45 with back off and does not AF ??? Any suggestions? Also, with the film back removed the flash works. Maybe I have to load a roll of film and see. I will do it in the morning. Its weird how now the 75 AF's with film back off but the 45 does NOT.
Thank you for that link. I will contact you in the am. Have a good night. Dennis

I have FA series lenses, my favorites are the 35mm f/3.5, 120mm f/4 macro, and 300mm f/4, although on a trip I will just take the 35mm and two zooms, 45-85mm and 80-160mm. If the A series 120 is anything like the FA version, you will enjoy it very much.

I find the meter sufficiently reliable that I don't carry a handheld meter around but if you are going to be using film that doesn't have much latitude, perhaps a test roll is in order.

Besides the AF360FGZ, the older AF500FTZ flash works great and can be had much cheaper since it is not compatible with the digital bodies. The AF160C ringflash also works beautifully.
